Executive Summary
Digital transformation within a large university extends far beyond maintaining a public website. It requires reliable information systems, structured governance, consistent communication and a long-term vision for institutional operations.
The University of Ilorin engagement represents one of Enle’s most significant enterprise transformation projects to date. What began as an urgent website recovery exercise evolved into the first phase of a broader institutional digitisation programme, laying the groundwork for modern governance and future operational systems.
Working as the technology and business systems delivery partner to Revive Digital Solutions, Enle restored hundreds of university websites, recovered thousands of staff records, redesigned the institution’s digital information architecture and introduced an enterprise communication platform to strengthen governance across one of Nigeria’s largest academic institutions.
Today, the project continues to evolve beyond digital presence towards organisational transformation, demonstrating the role technology can play in improving coordination, accountability and operational excellence within higher education.
About the Client
The University of Ilorin is one of Nigeria’s leading public universities, serving tens of thousands of students through a large academic and administrative structure comprising numerous faculties, departments, institutes, research centres and support units.
Managing digital information across such a diverse institution presents unique challenges. Every faculty, department and administrative office contributes to the university’s digital presence, requiring consistent governance, reliable systems and accurate information management.
As the institution continued to expand, the need for a more resilient and strategically managed digital ecosystem became increasingly apparent.
The Challenge
The engagement began following significant challenges within the university’s WordPress ecosystem.
Critical staff information had been lost due to issues relating to the website’s technical infrastructure, affecting digital records across multiple faculties, departments, institutes, centres and administrative units.
The immediate requirement was clear: restore the university’s digital presence as quickly as possible while ensuring the integrity of institutional information.
However, during the discovery process, Enle identified a much larger challenge.
The university’s websites were only one component of a broader organisational problem. As an institution operating across hundreds of organisational units, future growth would require stronger governance, structured communication and enterprise-wide operational systems capable of supporting collaboration at scale.
Rather than simply repairing the existing website, the project became an opportunity to establish the foundations for long-term digital transformation.
Enle’s Approach
Enle approached the engagement in carefully planned phases, ensuring that immediate operational risks were addressed before introducing longer-term organisational improvements.
Phase One — Digital Recovery
The first priority was restoring the university’s digital assets.
Working closely with Revive Digital Solutions, Enle undertook a comprehensive assessment of the university’s WordPress infrastructure to determine the extent of the data loss and identify the most effective recovery strategy.
Within an intensive two-week period, the team successfully restored approximately 300 faculty, department, institute, centre and administrative websites, recovering an estimated 3,000 staff records that had previously become inaccessible.
This work involved more than simply restoring content. Information structures were reorganised, technical issues were resolved and the overall integrity of the university’s digital ecosystem was significantly improved.
By rapidly stabilising the platform, Enle ensured that the university could continue providing reliable access to institutional information while reducing the risk of further disruption.
Phase Two — Strategic Planning
Once the immediate recovery had been completed, attention shifted towards preventing similar challenges in the future.
Enle developed a phased implementation roadmap outlining how the university could progressively modernise its digital infrastructure.
Rather than recommending isolated technology projects, the roadmap focused on building an integrated digital ecosystem capable of supporting teaching, administration and institutional governance over the long term.
This strategic planning phase established a clear direction for future investment while ensuring that technology decisions remained aligned with organisational priorities.
Phase Three — Enterprise Governance
As discussions progressed, it became evident that the university had reached a new stage of organisational maturity.
Managing communication across hundreds of departments, faculties and administrative units requires more than email and informal processes. It requires structured governance.
To address this challenge, Enle introduced Memo Manager, an enterprise communication and governance platform designed specifically for organisations operating across multiple departments and decision-making levels.
Memo Manager provides a structured framework for internal communication, approvals and organisational accountability, ensuring that information flows consistently throughout the institution while supporting transparent governance processes.
Rather than viewing Memo Manager as a standalone software application, Enle positioned it as the university’s first enterprise operational system—a foundation upon which future digital services can be built.
Services Delivered
Throughout the engagement, Enle delivered a combination of technical expertise, strategic advisory services and enterprise operational planning, including:
- Large-scale website recovery
- Restoration of institutional records
- WordPress engineering and optimisation
- Information architecture redesign
- Digital transformation planning
- Enterprise governance consulting
- Memo Manager deployment
- Organisational communication framework
- Strategic implementation roadmap
The project demonstrates Enle’s ability to combine technology delivery with organisational transformation, ensuring that digital investments contribute directly to institutional effectiveness.
Business Impact
The engagement delivered immediate operational improvements while positioning the university for long-term digital evolution.
Approximately 300 university websites and subsites were successfully restored, protecting the institution’s digital presence and ensuring continuity of access to critical academic and administrative information.
More than 3,000 staff records were recovered, preserving institutional knowledge across faculties, departments, centres and institutes.
Beyond the technical recovery, the university now benefits from a structured governance platform through the deployment of Memo Manager, enabling more organised communication and approval processes across the institution.
Perhaps most importantly, the university now possesses a strategic roadmap for continued digital transformation, allowing future technology investments to be implemented within a coherent organisational framework rather than as isolated projects.
Current Position Within the Enle Business Evolution Frameworkâ„¢
The University of Ilorin currently operates within Level 6 – Operational Enterprise Suite of the Enle Business Evolution Framework™.
At this stage, the challenge is no longer establishing digital presence or implementing individual operational systems. Instead, the focus shifts towards enterprise-wide governance, cross-department collaboration and integrated organisational management.
Memo Manager represents one of the enabling platforms within this stage, providing the communication and governance capabilities necessary for institutions operating across multiple organisational units.
Future phases of the engagement are expected to build upon this foundation through additional enterprise systems that further digitise university operations.
The Enle Lens
Large organisations rarely struggle because they lack technology. More often, they struggle because their technology evolves faster than their governance.
The University of Ilorin engagement demonstrates that digital transformation must begin with organisational readiness rather than software implementation. While recovering hundreds of websites was an important milestone, the greater achievement was establishing the governance framework necessary to support future institutional growth.
This project illustrates a defining principle of the Enle Business Evolution Frameworkâ„¢: enterprise transformation is achieved not by introducing more systems, but by ensuring that every system strengthens how the organisation works as a whole.
By restoring the university’s digital foundation and introducing structured governance through Memo Manager, Enle has helped position the institution for a future in which technology serves not only information management, but also organisational excellence.
